A native Kolkatan, Krishna has an educational background in communications from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata and St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She started out as a marketing and communications professional in the education industry before finding her calling in the development sector. She is the communication manager at Rural Health Care Foundation—one of our beneficiary NGOs. She is also associated with Kolkata Gives Foundation.
Aparna grew up in Ranchi and went to college in Kolkata followed by graduate school at Rutgers University. She is a program manager of large molecule drug development at Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a part of J&J. She is also one of the leaders of the South Asian employee resource group, SAPNA, at J&J. She is a mother of two boys and is passionate about education and women’s empowerment especially in India. Aparna loves cooking, singing in amateur bands and organizing events that bring her family and friends closer.
Amlan’s formative years were in Kulti, a steel town near the Bihar border. After his undergraduate degree from IIT Kharagpur and graduate school at Rutgers university he worked in developing and manufacturing vaccines and biologic drugs. He is currently head of quality at Spark Therapeutics, a gene therapy company based in Philadelphia. Amlan is inspired by the Kolkata Foundation to make an impact in the development of eastern India which he feels has less robust private development initiatives than in other parts of the country.
Debjani has held leadership positions in Education and Community Development organizations. She was the Director of Education at New Community Corporation (one of the largest community development corporations in the U.S). She was the President of Indian Cultural Society, an 800-strong community development nonprofit for the Indian diaspora in Central NJ. She is an active theater enthusiast, having performed in many stage productions across North America, and managed ICS Theater (a 501c3 nonprofit) from founding till 2021.
Akshay was born in Kolkata and spent many happy summers there in his childhood. He is currently a senior economist at the Information & Communications Technology Council – a think tank in Vancouver, and a research associate at the Systemic Risk Centre at the London School of Economics. He has previously been co-founder of a fintech startup in India, a DPhil student at Oxford, a researcher at the IMF, and an oilfield engineer with Schlumberger in Norway.
Mrittika has an MS and Ph.D. in Communication Studies from The Ohio State and Northwestern respectively. She has worked in research and development for healthcare organizations such as The World Health Organization (WHO) in Cairo and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, and consulted with nonprofits focused on education such as NAGPS and Indus Action. Mrittika founded her consultancy called Write Matters in 2019, and works with nonprofits in the US and India, developing organizational strategy with the board and leadership, researching funding opportunities, and preparing grant applications. In her career, she has consulted on more than $3.5 Million in funding and partnerships.
Dipaanshi was born in Kolkata, and currently also lives in the city with her husband. She works for a firm of Chartered Accountants and has been involved with the preparation of financial statements, statutory audit, internal audit and filing of income tax returns for various clients. She is also pursuing the Chartered Accountancy course.
